Jun 17, 2020 | 2:39 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Finlay Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic beginning June 24 as the 112-year-old bridge is resurfaced.

The existing asphalt surface will be replaced with a more durable concrete surface to improve the smoothness of the bridge deck and extend the bridge’s service life.

Repairs to the bridge abutments and bearings will be completed during the closure.

Pedestrians will still be able to access one at least one sidewalk.

The city expects construction will be finished by the end of September, weather dependent.

Residents are asked to allow crews space to work safely, including adhering to physical distancing standards of two metres from city workers.
