Anti-racism protest in Lethbridge draws in huge crowd

LETHBRIDGE, AB- Thursday afternoon (June 4) as of 5:00 pm there were over 900 protesters that gathered in front of Lethbridge City Hall.

The peaceful protest grew rapidly with people in a matter of minutes spanning around the building.

Organizers felt the best way to address the issue around the world and Canada, was to make known what needs to be done.

Racial Discrimination Protest

Chanting about the Black community and Indigenous groups around the city made the protest special.

Within a matter of an hour from 3:00 to 4:30, the protestors went from 20 people to around 800.

Mayor Chris Spearman provided strong words for residents of Lethbridge and wanted to make it known that inequality within the city cannot happen.

The crowd chanted “Black Lives Matter” and “Equality for all” which electrified the protestors.

Protestors gathered in front of City Hall from roughly 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
