Redcliff Bakery opening second location in Medicine Hat

REDCLIFF, AB – A Redcliff staple will be expanding its location south of the highway this summer.

Redcliff Bakery is opening up a new location in Medicine Hat to have two locations.

Owner of Redcliff Bakery Melissa Graber says their Redcliff location will still be open as usual and they will continue to do the baking in that building with the equipment already in place.

The goodies will then be taken to the Medicine Hat location.

Graber says they will unveil the opening day and the location of the city spot in the next few weeks.

“Both locations I think will be really popular. A few months ago we actually did a poll to see where people came from in Medicine Hat as well as in Redcliff and other locations around. And we found that a lot of our clientele is Redcliff with some coming from Medicine Hat as well. So obviously we’ll keep our Redcliff clientele out in this location.”

Graber says the new location will have a larger sitting area than in Redcliff.

And even with the 50 percent capacity rule at this time, they will be able to have guests eat inside.

Redcliff Bakery has been open during the pandemic with take-out orders.

She adds they were toying with the idea of a second location for the last couple of years.

“We just really feel like small businesses can still thrive in this season even though it’s a little bit tougher. We’ve had such great clients coming out and supporting us the past three months and I know that’s going to continue. I feel like the Medicine Hat and Redcliff community love small business and we appreciate that and I know we will continue to thrive during this time.”

The bakery may hire a couple more staff depending on how things go and how busy they are but they will feel it out.

“We have a great core group of staff here in Redcliff and with it being a little bit slower we’ll be using some of our staff in the Medicine Hat location as well,” Graber said.
