Recovered cases of COVID-19 passes 6,000 in Alberta, one new case in Medicine Hat

Alberta has confirmed 22 cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, putting the total number of cases at 6,901. The number of recovered cases jumped by 69 to sit at 6,048, while active cases went down by 48 to 714.

Medicine Hat has the only new case in the South Zone. The city now has 41 cases in total, eight active and 33 recovered.

In Brooks, there are now just 41 active cases of total of 1,095 cases in that community. There have been seven deaths and 1,047 cases have recovered.

There was one additional death in the province, bringing that total to 139. There are 45 Albertans currently in hospital, five of which are in the ICU.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s chief medical officer health, will provide an in-person update on Wednesday.

On May 11, the province began putting a more detailed chart online for each zone.

The County of Newell has 15 cases, two active and 13 recovered.

Cypress County is reporting 14 cases of COVID-19, six active and eight recovered.

The County of Forty Mile and Municipal District of Taber each have two confirmed cases both listed as recovered.

Special Areas No. 2 has two confirmed cases, one recovered and one death.

The City of Lethbridge has 27 cases, eight listed as active and 19 recovered. Lethbridge County has one recorded recovered case.
