AHS to host virtual workshops on managing stress

May 20, 2020 | 12:09 PM

Stress is a concern at the best of times, and living under the COVID-10 pandemic for the nearly three months now has only made it an even bigger problem for some.

Alberta Health Services is offering three free, virtual workshops over the next two weeks to teach people how to identify and manage stress, including a pair of HeartMath breathing techniques.

Transform Your Stress: The Resilience Advantage — Strategies for Managing Stress in Challenging Times will be offered on May 26 from 10-11:45 a.m., May 27 from 1-2:45 p.m. and June 3 from 7-8:45 p.m. Registration is open now.

This workshop will:

  • · Discuss the stress response.
  • · Identify warning signs of stress.
  • · Help participants make an action plan to address their own stress.
  • · Review how emotions impact the body, brain and overall health.
  • · Demonstrate two practical, stress-relieving breathing techniques.
  • · Discuss how resilience can be enhanced through regular use of the breathing tools.
