Business blooming for local flower shops

“I know I bring flowers in and within two, three days I’m sold right out,” she said.

McLaughlin has owned her shop for eight years. She said this year is one of her busiest yet, as more people look to communicate with flowers during the pandemic to show they care.

” This year has been exceptionally busy because of the virus and with people taking more precautions and they can’t go out and spend time with their loved ones” she said.

The boom in business is something she never expected, with job losses and shuttered businesses a subsequent result of the pandemic.

“I really didn’t think I would be as busy as I am, but I have a lot of customers say ‘you know what we are really happy to see that you can keep your doors open and be busy'”‘ she said.

Using a touch of nature to spread a little bit of joy to those feeling down is something she is proud to do daily while on the job.

” We feel happy that we can help people during these uncertain times and in other years too just to celebrate the moments,” she said.
