Utility rates dropping slightly for May

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat utility customers will pay a little bit less for both natural gas and electricity this month.

The City of Medicine Hat released its May utility rates on Friday.

Natural gas will cost residents $2.2720 per gigajoule this month, down from the previous month of $2.2860.

The electricity rate is 5.607 cents per kilowatt hour, down from the previous month of 5.736.

Both rates are determined based on the average set by other providers.

The natural gas price is in the middle of the $2.5640 set by Direct Energy and the $1.9800 set by AltaGas.

The high power price in the province for May is 6.046 cents, set by Direct Energy. The low price is 5.389 cents at Epcor (outside Edmonton).
