Police to increase patrols around ‘problem houses’

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat Police Service hopes high-visibility patrols will reduce property crime and drug activity in parts of the city with what police term “problem houses.”

A weekly MHPS Intelligence Meeting report from April 29 notes an increase in residential concerns at these locations. Some areas that will be targeted for patrols and enforcement are:

• 500 Block of Vista Drive SE
• Zero Hundred Block of Anson Avenue SE
• McCaig Crescent/21 Avenue area –
• River Ridge Drive NW
• Rae Crescent SE
• 300 Block of 4 Street NW
• 1000 Block of Mill Street SE
• 300 Block of 4 Street SE
• Iris Court

Police will also increase their presence at the following locations to ensure public health guidelines are being followed with respect to physical distancing.

• Saamis Teepee – The Police Service has received complaints of youths congregating at the Saamis Tepee located at 32 Eagle Birth Road SW.
• 800 Block of 14th St SW – The Police Service has also received complaints of breaches of COVID-19 regulations at a business location in this location
• 13th Avenue and Southview Drive SE.
