BROOKS, AB – McDonald’s is taking precautionary action after another one of its employees has been confirmed to have COVID-19.

The worker reported the positive test to Alberta Health Service (AHS) on Friday, April 17.

McDonald’s Canada said in a statement that they are working in cooperation with AHS.

“Out of an abundance of caution, McDonald’s Canada made the decision to immediately shut down the restaurant for a thorough cleaning and sanitation by 3rd party cleaning experts, WINMAR. The restaurant will re-open once direction has been given by Alberta Health Services.”

All crew members at the restaurant who may have been in close contact with the employee have been asked to self-quarantine until further notice.

The employee worked their last shift on Monday, April 13 from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.

McDonald’s is asking that anyone who visited their Brooks location to take directions from AHS on their website.

“We continue to work with Alberta Health Services to support our people and our guests, and will update this statement as more information is available.”

LNN reported Friday afternoon that an additional 29 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Brooks, meaning 32 people have tested positive in the community to date.
