Open for business

What’s open? Here’s how to find out

MEDICINE HAT, AB – An online portal that launched this week is connecting businesses and organizations in Western Canada that have been forced to change operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are more than 130 local businesses or organizations on the Things That Are Open list as of late Friday, and that number is growing each day, said Steven Pudwell, General Sales Manager, Jim Pattison Broadcast Group – Medicine Hat.

The service is a product of Lift Interactive Inc. and the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group.

The businesses and organizations on the list include everything from marketers and lawyers to butchers and auto body shops.

“Because of the life that we’re living right now, businesses can be open but they have to have rules of engagement to be doing their business with clients,” explains Pudwell. “This site is letting business owners engage with the public and potential customers and letting them know that they have COVID-19 safety measures and the hours of operation.”

Adding your local business is as simple as going to thingsthatareopen.com, clicking Add Your Business and filling out a quick form that includes your basic business and contact information, and your COVID-19-friendly policies. There are also options to share your digital footprint and photos.
