MEDICINE HAT – The president of the Medicine Hat Chamber of Commerce is advising small businesses to establish a continuity plan in light of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A continuity plan, “allows you to think through the what ifs and what your reactions are going to be when those things happen,” said Tracy Noullett. “It allows you to be prepared and to alleviate some anxiety for your team and yourself.”

To that end, the chamber has a list of resources on its website to help get business owners started on preparing a plan that could mitigate financial consequences of the pandemic.

“Right now a really good resource to look at is the Medicine Hat and District Chamber website,” said Noulett. “It’s got some really great links with regards to information from the federal and provincial government, including a business continuity plan you can run through.”

And as things change – as they have been on an almost hourly basis – the chamber will be adding information to its website on aid packages expected to be announced by the federal and provincial governments in the coming days.

“Our job will be getting that out to members and businesses in Medicine Hat to make sure they have access to those supports,” said Noullett.
