Motz says work will continue as Commons suspended

Medicine Hat MP agrees with suspension of House of Commons

Mar 13, 2020 | 12:12 PM

OTTAWA — .Medicine Hat – Cardston – Warner MP Glen Motz says the decision this morning to suspend the House of Commons was done to keep everyone safe.

Motz says MP’s travel frequently both in the constituency and back and forth to Ottawa, which was one of the considerations in today’s decision.

He understands those who may question suspending Parliament during a time of crisis, but says MP’s will continue to be briefed and will share them as best as they can.

“”We will get briefings on a continual basis, we’ll share those as best we can. There will be something in my website later this afternoon advising people should you have concerns about your own well-being or your own wealth, here’s some ways to protect yourself”

Unless there is an emergency, the House of Commons won’t sit again until the 20th of next month.

Motz will be returning to Medicine Hat tomorrow and had planned a town hall meeting for next Tuesday in Raymond.

He says a decision whether to proceed with that will be made on Monday.
