MEDICINE HAT, AB – A city road that sees 9,500 vehicles per day will be getting a face-lift at the start of construction season this spring.

Kipling and Spencer Street southeast from Kingsway Ave to College Ave will be dug-up for water main, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer upgrades, as well as road rehabilitation.

Planning Engineer with Municipal Works Sandeep Pareek says this is one of the important projects this year.

He says the project will be done in 5 phases so traffic can flow smoothly on the busy road.

“But in general we’ll have traffic accommodation in place to allow for traffic to move along this corridor or we’ll have detours set up so that people can get where they have to go.”

He says there will be more details on detours once a contractor is in place.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to come to the open house next week at Municipal Works to learn more.

It’s on Wednesday, February 26 from 4 pm- 6 pm at the Municipal Works Department.

Pareek says the project is slated to start early spring with the hope to be completed by late summer or fall this year.
