New natural gas pipeline being proposed for north of Medicine Hat

CYPRESS COUNTY, AB – A new natural gas pipeline is being proposed to be built north of Medicine Hat by TC Energy with an estimated potential of generating 500 jobs.

TC Energy (formerly known as TransCanada Corp.) is proposing the 62 km pipeline to be located just north of Medicine Hat to meet increased demand for natural gas in the city and surrounding areas.

The project’s timetable estimates construction could start in the third-quarter of 2022 with an in-service date of 2023.

Officials with TC Energy will be presenting its proposal at Tuesday’s Cypress County council meeting.
