Leroux stops 26 shots in Game One playoff victory

MEDICINE HAT — Logan Leroux made 26 saves as the Medicine Hat Cubs opened the Heritage Junior B Hockey League playoffs with a win.

They blanked Strathmore Wheatland Kings 3-0 in game one of the best of five series at the Kinplex.

Mason Fischer and Mackenzie Fritzier scored in a 22 second span late in the third period to break open what had been a tight 1-0 contest.

Levi Schlosser opened the scoring with a second period marker.

Strathmore goalie Brett Willan stopped 45 of 48 Medicine Hat shots.

Game two is in Strathmore tonight, with Game 3 scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 2:30 pm at the Kinplex.
