New champion crowned at Senior Bonspiel

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Curling Club crowned a new champion at its Senior Bonspiel Wednesday afternoon.

Terry Devalter’s rink topped the team skipped by Bruce Perrin 5-3 in the open division finals on Wednesday.

The game was close, with both Devalter and Perrin exchanging singles in the first three ends. Devalter stole one point in the fourth, while Perrin responded in the fifth end. Devalter ended up with the lead in the seventh end, and added an additional point in the final end to take the lead.

Devalter’s rink was made up of Kraig Kohls, Ken Bachmeier and Lloyd Robinson.

In the “B” event, a team consisting of Sheila Rumberg, Bev Bischoff, Dee Cowan and Arlene Seitz blanked the team skipped by Art Scott 9-0.

Harvey Moch, who won last year’s bonspiel, finished in first place in the “C” final, topping Glen Smeby’s rink 7-4.

In the master’s division, Ted Ganden’s rink defeated Brian Moat’s rink by a score of 7-4.

Carol Eisenbarth’s team dominated Gary Haus’ team 9-4 in the “B” final, while Ray Aman’s rink needed six ends to top the Source for Sports rink 7-2 in the “C” final.
