CARSELAND, AB — The Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench has ordered striking Unifor workers to lift a blockade at a Co-op Refinery in Carseland.

According to Global News, Federated Co-operatives Limited, the parent company of Co-op was officially granted a court injunction to stop the blockade Thursday morning in the Court of Queen’s Bench.

While the blockade has to come down, Unifor members are still permitted to picket at the site.

FCL and Unifor, the union representing refinery workers at a Co-op in Regina, have been involved in a labour dispute since December 5, which included a lockout of workers at the refinery.

Unifor has put blockades up at the refinery in Regina, which are still in place.

On Wednesday, Co-ops across the province, including South Country Co-op, introduced fuel limits for card lock users due to concerns about the blockades.

Card holders are limited to 300 litres of diesel per day, and 100 litres of gasoline per day. It is unclear if the restrictions will be lifted.
