MEDICINE HAT, AB — Three Medicine Hat residents have been arrested and charged after methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl were seized as part of a recent investigation.

Police say the investigation stemmed from complaints by community members concerned with suspected drug activity at a home near the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.

Police executed a search warrant on Friday at a home in the 400 block of Fifth Street Southwest.

Police arrested Shanley Doling, 39, and Jason Baynham, 45, in the residence. A third person, 41-year-old Roger Bachmeier was arrested by police on Saturday.

Doling and Bachmeier are both charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of fentanyl and heroin, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Banyham was charged with possession of fentanyl and heroin, and was also arrested on outstanding warrants.

Staff Sergeant Cory Both with the Medicine Hat Police Service notes they’re facing additional calls for nuisance properties. He says residents need to be patient as police work to tackle problem homes.

“We are hearing you, we are recording it, we are actioning it,” said Both. “Unfortunately we can’t just snap our fingers and make it stop. We have to build a case, and most of the time, it takes time. It takes patience for officers, but we ask the community that they be patient as well.”

Banyham and Doling were remanded into custody, and will appear in Medicine Hat Provincial Court on Thursday. Bachmeier was released on $500 cash bail, and will appear in provincial court on February 20.
