MEDICINE HAT, AB – Parents no longer have to use a pen to sign their kids up for school in the Medicine Hat Public School Division.

The division is making the switch from paper to online registration starting on February 6.

This coming registration will be for the 2020/2021 school year.

Superintendent Mark Davidson says online registration is for everyone who is currently in the system and everyone new to the system.

“And so all students new to our system that’s how families will be invited to register. We will have a helpline that will be available so if you’re struggling at all with the new online system there will be a direct line to a great person who will be able to help you out through that process.”

Davidson adds paper registration will still be available for those who don’t have easy access to a computer.

A computer will also be set up at every school and registration can be done in the building.

Meantime he says, “When it’s an introduction to school for children who are coming into a new learning environment and kindergarten for the first time, parents and children will come to the school so we can meet you and your child face to face.”
