Redcliff woman wins $1 million Lotto 6/49 draw

REDCLIFF, AB — A Redcliff woman is $1 million richer after winning a Lotto 6/49 Draw last fall.

Erin Taefu won the prize in the October 16, 2019 draw, but did not discover she won until December, according to a release from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.

In the release, Taefu says she discovered the ticket while cleaning out her car while returning from a trip.

“I found some tickets in the car and in the house that I hadn’t checked yet,” says Taefu in the release. “When I finished cleaning, I checked them on the WCLC mobile app.”

When she checked the ticket, she found one of the numbers selected matched the winning number for the guaranteed $1 million prize – 48265596-01. She says when she discovered she won, she was “in shock.”

Taefu’s winning numbers were on a $10 quick pick ticket she purchased from Redcliff Husky.

Taefu claimed her prize this month. According to the release from the WCLC, she says she will use the majority of her winnings to invest for the future and live mortgage-free.
