Cold weather prompts AMA to answer over 30,000 calls for service since Sunday

EDMONTON, AB – The extreme cold weather across the province has led to a busy week for the Alberta Motor Association (AMA).

The AMA says that between Sunday and Wednesday morning this week, they’ve received more than 30,700 calls for service, six times its usual winter call volume.

A major portion of those calls have been related to vehicle battery issues.

“AMA has all available call-takers, dispatchers, contractors and service vehicle operators working to help people as safely and quickly as possible,” the Association stated in a release.

“It’s all-hands-on-deck across the province to get motorists and their vehicles to safety.”

The Association is asking drivers to use caution and take preventative measures to ensure their vehicles are fit for the roads.
