BROOKS, AB – The Brooks Bandits (37-3-1) won their 50th consecutive regular season home game on Friday, downing the Olds Grizzlys 6-1 at the Centennial Regional Arena.

Goaltender Ethan Barwick (St. Albert, AB) made 21 saves for his 7th win of the year, while the Bandits swept the 6 game season series with the Grizzlys.

After a scoreless opening 13 minutes which saw Olds goaltender Duncan Hughes under heavy fire, Brooks finally beat him at the 13:25 mark. Forward Ryan McAllister (London, ON) fired in a top shelf goal to make it 1-0 on the powerplay. Then, at the 15:38 mark, forward Devin Phillips (Raleigh, North Carolina) finished off a dish from forward Chris Pappas in front of the Grizzly net to make it 2-0. Brooks outshot Olds 12-1 in the 1st period.

The Bandits continued to score in the 2nd period. Defenceman Jordan Di Cicco (London, ON) found a loose puck in the crease to make it 3-0 on the powerplay at 7:23, followed by two TJ Hughes’ (Hamilton, ON) goals at 12:58 and 13:15 to give the Bandits a 5-0 edge.

Pappas then scored on a wraparound at 6:22 of the 3rd period. Barwick’s shutout bid was spoiled at 7:01 on a right circle shot from Colton Koran of Olds, they’re only goal of the night.

Final shots were 41-22 Bandits.

The Bandits are back in action on Saturday (January 11th) when they host the Calgary Canucks, presented by Chinook Financial. Game time is 7:00 PM.
