GAME NOTES: Tigers set to host Thunderbirds for first time since 2017
MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers played back to back to back games against the Calgary Hitmen this past week and won two of the three matchups, including Friday night’s 5-2 victory. Captain James Hamblin scored his 20th and 21st goals of the season as well as his 100th career WHL goal in the contest for the Tabbies earning the first star of the night. Veteran forward Elijah Brown also added a pair of goals in the contest while sophomore forward Corson Hopwo had a two assist night. The Tigers are 24-11-1-1 and they are led by Hamblin with 57 points (21G, 36A). After Saturday’s game, the Tigers will travel to Manitoba to play the Brandon Wheat Kings Tuesday and the Winnipeg ICE Wednesday.
Tigers vs. Thunderbirds
For the only time this season, the Tigers will take on the Thunderbirds Saturday at the Canalta Centre. The last time two times these two hockey clubs faced off, the games were decided in overtime with the home team winning. Last season, the Thunderbirds won 4-3 in overtime Feb 9, 2019, and during the 2017-18 season the Tigers won 4-3 in overtime Nov 4, 2017. Medicine Hat is 1-1-1-0 against Seattle over the past five years.
