Coaldale company named McCain’s “Top Potato Grower”

COALDALE, AB – Perry Produce Ltd. is being recognized by McCain Foods Canada.

At McCain’s Alberta Growers’ Appreciation Banquet, they were named the 2019 Crop Year Champion Potato Grower.

“We have been partners with our Alberta growers for 20 years and we are very pleased to recognize Perry Produce Ltd. and our other valued 2018 top growers for their continued commitment and extraordinary efforts supplying our McCain Foods Coaldale facility,” says McCain’s Vice President of Agriculture Christine Wentworth.

Perry Produce has been a Top 10 finalist for this consideration for the last nine years. This was the first time they were given the honour.

“Alberta growers annually harvest about 21,450 hectares of potatoes, representing about 15 percent of Canada’s total potato crop,” adds McCain Foods Canada President, Danielle Barran.

“McCain works closely with our valued grower partners to meet the continued demand for McCain frozen potato and potato specialty products in both the retail and foodservice businesses. Our shared successes come with plenty of passion and hard work and for that, we say thank you!”

2020 will mark McCain Foods’ 20th year of operation in the Coaldale area, employing more than 200 people.
