MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Southern Alberta Humane Society is foster-based, and have about 28 animals in their care right now.

The society began in May of this year and started fostering animals at the end of June thanks to volunteers.

President De Seaton says over the last 6 months there have also been a few adoptions.

She says the society has their provincial society status, and their federal registration is pending which could take about one year.

“Once we get that we can apply for grants and then we can get that shelter. Everything is going really good, the support from the community has been amazing,” she said.

In the meantime, the Southern Alberta Humane Society continues to fundraise to foster dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and rabbits.
