MEDICINE HAT, AB – The 11th annual United Way Toy Drive at Southland Volkswagen was another huge success.

The campaign ran for 3 weeks and collected $15-thousand worth of toys and cash, including the matching amount from Southland Volkswagen.

Missy Fandrick, Executive Director of United Way South Eastern Alberta says the donations will help the 300 families they serve.

“So I can imagine, now it’s December 20 and lots of people think that there’s no hope. There’s always hope. We’re going to make sure these kids have something to open on Christmas morning,” said Fandrick.

The extra toys will be gifted to the children in the pediatric wing at Medicine Hat Hospital.

Owner of Southland Volkswagon Bob Aaltonen says the city always comes together to support the toy drive. “Not just our staff our customers, suppliers, our friends, Volkswagen Canada. Everybody gets behind this because its so important to help kids. It’s just so heartwarming to see everyone work hard at it every year.”

Toy deliveries will start tonight and continue until Christmas.
