Davies impresses in Bayern win; Gladbach level at top
FREIBURG, Germany — Canadian left back Alphonso Davies provided a highlight-reel assist to help Bayern Munich post a 3-1 win over Freiburg in Bundesliga action Wednesday.
Davies set up Bayern’s first goal of the game when he sprinted the length of the pitch before sending in a cross in the box to Robert Lewandowski, who slid to meet the ball and put it past Freiburg goalkeeper Mark Flekken.
It was Lewandowski’s 19th goal in 16 Bundesliga games this season.
Freiburg equalized when Vincenzo Grifo scored in the 59th minute. Bayern’s right back Joshua Kimmich came in toward the centre and left space open for Grifo to sneak in at the far post.
