Man dies following Thursday collision near Bassano

BASSANO, AB – RCMP have confirmed the driver of a truck involved in a motor vehicle collision on the Trans Canada Highway Thursday morning has died.
A 46-year-old man from Strathmore was pronounced dead on route to hospital following the collision at the intersection of Highway 1 and Secondary Highway 550 near Bassano.
The collision occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. and involved a pickup truck travelling east colliding with a semi. The highway was restricted to one lane for several hours.
Bassano RCMP continue to investigate. In a release sent Thursday, RCMP said road conditions and visibility were poor at the time of the collision.
