Southern Alberta MPs sworn into office

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Parliament has resumed and local MPs have officially been sworn back into their positions on Tuesday.

In October’s federal election, all four of the riding’s Conservative Members of Parliament were re-elected, including Rachael Harder from Lethbridge, John Barlow of Foothills, Martin Shields in Bow River, and Glen Motz in Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner.

Thursday’s proceedings will be highlighted by the throne speech from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberals.

Barlow will serve this term as the Agriculture and Agri-Food Shadow Minister as part of the official opposition.

Motz will retain his status that was given in 2017 as the Associate Shadow Minister for Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness.

Although Harder was the Opposition Critic for Status of Women in the last federal government term, she will not have a Shadow Cabinet position this time around.
