BROOKS, AB – The Brooks Bandits (26-1-1) remain perfect at home this season following an 8-3 victory over the Calgary Canucks on Saturday night at the Centennial Regional Arena.

Goaltender Ethan Barwick (St. Albert, AB) made 19 saves on 22 shots to pick up his 5th win of the season.

Calgary scored first thanks to a Dylan Clark breakaway goal 75 seconds into the game. The Bandits would tie it up 1-1 at the 12:42 mark as Brayden Kreiger (Elora, ON) would deke out a Calgary defender on a 2 on 1 rush, and go top shelf.

The Canucks retook the lead at the 14:10 mark as Jackson Zloty got his own rebound on a breakaway shot and put in the back of the net to make it 2-1 Calgary. But before the period ended, the Bandits tied it up 2-2 on the powerplay as Chris Pappas (Toronto, ON) scored on a rebound from a Tim Rego (Mansfield, MA) shot.

The Bandits fell behind 5:26 into the second period as Alex Heal snuck one past Barwick over the glove to make it 3-2. Three minutes later, it was tied 3-3 thanks to a Randy Hernández goal set up by Marc-Antoine Benoit (Drummondville, AC) on a 2 on 1 rush.

Then at the 11:46 mark, Brooks took their first lead of the night, as Canuck goaltender Jay Thomson mishandled the puck behind his net, giving it away to Krieger who scored on an open net, shorthanded to make it 4-3. The Bandits then added to their lead at 13:01 on a one-timer from Trey Thomas (Williams Lake, BC) to make it 5-3.

The third period saw the Bandit offence overpower Calgary. Forward Devin Phillips (Raleigh, NC) had a puck deflect off his shin pad and into the Calgary net at the 5:26 mark, followed by a Phip Waugh (McLean, VA) top shelf shot at 10:16 to make it 7-3.

Capping off the night was forward Justin Ross (Calgary, AB) scoring his first AJHL goal after one-timing a Pappas pass with a 1:12 left in regulation.

The Bandits outshot Calgary 34-18 and improve their home record to 14-0.

Next up for the Bandits is a trip to Drumheller on Friday, November 29th. Game time is 7:30 PM, with live coverage on Real Country 105.7.
