Suspects sought after two-vehicle crash in Red Deer

Nov 23, 2019 | 9:58 AM

Red Deer, AB – Red Deer RCMP are searching for multiple suspects after a series of collisions on the city’s north end late Thursday night.

It was around 11:30 p.m. when Mounties were responding a report of a truck and SUV driving erratically in the Kentwood area.

Members arrived on scene and found that two vehicles had collided near the intersection of Kingston Drive and Kentwood Drive, and multiple parked vehicles had been struck by the truck.

Following the collision, the driver of the SUV got out and attempted to break the driver side window of the truck. The two suspects engaged in a physical altercation and then fled on foot in different directions. One suspect was picked up by a third vehicle which fled westbound on Kingston Drive.

Thankfully, none of the parked vehicles were occupied at the time, and no injuries have been reported. Drugs and ammo were recovered from both suspect vehicles at the scene.

Two male suspects are being sought.

Meantime, police add that one of their own cruisers was in a collision en route to Kentwood. An RCMP SUV was moving through the intersection at Gaetz Avenue and 67 Street when it was struck by another vehicle. Occupants of both vehicles were taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Cpl. Karyn Kay says neither speed, alcohol nor road conditions are believed to have contributed to that crash.

RCMP continue to investigate.
