CHAT Food Drive smashes collection record

Nov 14, 2019 | 4:37 PM

Medicine Hat, AB – The CHAT Food Drive is expected to smash its record this year in collections for the Medicine Hat and District Food Bank.

By noon on Thursday – its second day of a two-day drive – the food drive had collected 240,000 pounds of donated food from more than 125 schools, businesses, non-profit and government agencies.

Organizers expect this year’s total to be around 320,000 pounds.

Mike Doll, CHAT program director, said the community heard the call and responded overwhelmingly.

“The CHAT Food Drive has been absolutely amazing this year,” said Doll. “We are always amazed at the turnout of our business community and by out listeners and the people of Medicine Hat who make this thing go every year.”

Dozens of volunteers from the Food Bank, CHAT and from across the community took part in the drive with generous donations by Traxx Coachlines which transported volunteers across the city Wednesday and Thursday and Rosenau Transportation which provided logistics.
