Barnes named to provincial Fair Deal Panel

Medicine Hat, AB – In an expansive and likely landmark speech Saturday afternoon, Premier Jason Kenney announced a panel to examine sweeping reforms to tax collection, policing and pensions.
The Fair Deal Panel`s mandate will include examining collection of provincial taxes directly, creation of an Alberta Pension Plan and re-establishment of the Alberta Provincial Police.
Kenney also announced measures to defend Alberta`s interests, including introduction of a Citizen’s Imitative Act which will allow the public to petition for referendum on public interest matters and establishing offices in Ottawa, Quebec and British Columbia to defend provincial interests.
The Fair Deal Panel will include Cypress-Medicine Hat MLA Drew Barnes as well as fellow members Miranda Rosin and Tany Yao. Former Reform Party leader Preston Manning, former MLA Donna Kennedy-Glans, Stephen Lougheed will also be on the panel.
