STRATHMORE, AB —Councillors with Wheatland County says if Ottawa doesn’t treat Alberta fairly, then the province should hold a referendum on independence.
They passed the resolution without dissent, calling for the vote on Alberta independence for October 18, 2021.
It calls for Alberta to create its own pension plan, replacing the R-C-M-P and for the province to collect its own taxes and control immigration.
Wheatland county is just east of Calgary and includes the town of Strathmore.
