Nov 5, 2019 | 5:31 PM

CROWNEST PASS, AB – Two people have died following a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 22.

Crowsnest Pass RCMP responded to the three-vehicle collision at around 4:50 p.m. Monday afternoon on Highway 22 and Range Road 21, south of the Maycroft bridge.

RCMP say a car and an SUV collided head on while travelling on Highway 22. Following that initial incident, a semi-tractor collided with the car.

The sole 34-year-old male occupant of the car was from Leduc and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 59-year-old male driver of the SUV was also pronounced dead on scene.

An adult female was a passenger in the SUV and was transported to hospital in Calgary with serious but non life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the SUV were both from Creston, B.C.

The driver of the semi-tractor was not injured.

Crowsnest Pass RCMP and an RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate, and the RCMP says foggy conditions were reported at the time of the collision.

The names of the deceased will not be released.

Following the collision, traffic was re-routed at the intersection of Highway 22 and Highway 3. Traffic north of the collision at Highway 22 near the Maycroft bridge was re-routed toward Highway 2.
