MEDICINE HAT, AB — Tyler Brennan collected his first career international shutout, stopping all 23 shots as Canada White handed the Czech Republic a 3-0 setback to wrap up preliminary play at the World U17 Hockey Challenge on Tuesday night.

Canada White finishes third in Group ‘A’ with a 1-0-1-1 record and will head to Swift Current to battle Canada Red in the quarter-finals on Thursday.

Dylan Guenther potted a shorthanded and powerplay marker, his first two tallies of the tournament, and Medicine Hat Tigers forward picked up his fifth of the tournament to round out Canada White’s goal scoring. Sillinger’s five markers put him at the top of the tournament’s goal-scoring race.

Earlier in the day, Canada Black handed the USA its first loss of the tournament, coming thanks to Shane Wright’s overtime winner in a 5-4 decision. Both Canada Black and USA will stay in Medicine Hat, having finished second and first respectively in Group ‘A’.

Canada Black will square off against Russia, who are coming off a huge victory over the first-place Swede’s on Thursday night. USA takes on Finland in the afternoon quarter-final. Canada Black enters the playoff format of the event as the only undefeated team at the tournament, having won all three games in either overtime or a shootout.

The fourth remaining quarter-final match-up has the Czech Republic traveling to Swift Current to tango with Sweden.
