AGLC seeking policy exemption to allow poppy boxes in cannabis stores
MEDICINE HAT, AB — Cannabis stores in Alberta will soon be able to collect funds for the Royal Canadian Legion.
CHAT News received a tip from the owner of a cannabis store in Medicine Hat, saying they were told by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) that they were unable to have a poppy box in their store due to it being against regulations.
CHAT News reached out to the AGLC, who confirmed that under current regulations, non-cannabis products are not allowed to be sold in cannabis stores.
Heather Holmen, a spokesperson with AGLC, says the organization has reviewed its policies, and has decided to seek a policy exemption.
