Hockey Challenge teams in action before tournament

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The teams in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge will be playing their first games ahead of the tournament starting tonight.

At the Canalta Centre, Team Canada Red will take on Team USA at 7 p.m. It’s the first opportunity for hockey fans to see Team Canada Red, who will be playing the majority of their tournament games in Swift Current during the tournament, and it’s the only time the two teams will be playing in Medicine Hat before the tournament playoffs.

Team Canada White, which includes Medicine Hat Tigers forward Cole Sillinger, will be taking on Team Russia in Swift Current at the Innovation Credit i-Plex.

Team Canada Black, which includes Corson Ceulemans of the Brooks Bandits, are facing Team Finland in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, while Team Sweden and Team Czech Republic will battle at the Centennial Regional Arena in Brooks.

The World U-17 Hockey Challenge is being hosted by Medicine Hat and Swift Current. The tournament officially begins November 2, and ends November 9.
