Ferrari drivers 1-2 in final practice at Mexican Grand Prix
MEXICO CITY — Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel went 1-2 in Saturday’s final practice at the Mexican Grand Prix, setting the pace in a damp session marked by a burst of action only in the final 15 minutes.
Leclerc edged Vettel by 0.027 seconds.
Mercedes teammates Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton were third and fourth. Hamilton can clinch a sixth Formula One championship if he finishes on the podium Sunday and 14 points ahead of Bottas, the only driver still in the title chase.
The track was slick from overnight rain, and the teams didn’t attack the course for most of the morning. There is a possibility of rain for Saturday’s afternoon qualifying and the Sunday race.
