Rattlers soccer player named ACAC Rookie of the Year

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A member of the Medicine Hat College Rattlers men’s soccer team has been named Rookie of the Year among college soccer players in Alberta.

Tom Bernhardt received the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Year award Thursday evening.

Bernhardt, who is from Germany, played centre for the Rattlers, and started every game this season

“Tom is an outstanding athlete, citizen and student and he was a huge addition to our squad this season” said Rattlers head coach Robert Cavicchia in a news release.. “He is a player any squad can build around and we were fortunate he chose MHC.”

Bernhardt was also named to the ACAC men’s All-Star team this season, along with teammate Abdou Raouf Mohamed.

Mohamed, also in his rookie season, led the Rattlers in scoring with 11 goals and one assist, according to a release.

For the women’s soccer team Jadyn Fode of the Rattlers was named to the ACAC women’s all-star team. In her third season with the Rattlers, she finished second on the team in scoring with four goals and one assist.
