MEDICINE HAT, AB — Brooks-Medicine Hat MLA Michaela Glasgo echoed praise from her colleague Drew Barnes about the 2019 Budget.

“This budget has a plan to get Alberta back on track,” she said over the phone from Edmonton on Thursday. “We saw the last four years of the NDP government really spending us into a disaster here in Alberta, and it’s really important that we have a government, and a budget, that reflects our government’s commitments, and the commitments that Albertans overwhelmingly supported in the last election.”

Glasgo said the budget’s goal is to get Albertans back to work, and says there is support for families.

“You’ll see benefits from the job creation tax cut, as well as ways to protect our most vulnerable including increases in spending actually to social services to make that happen, including children’s services,” she said. “I know it’s important that we protect our most vulnerable and we protect our most vulnerable, especially in southern Alberta as well.”

The budget includes $1.6 billion per year for children’s services, with a plan to increase spending 15 per cent by 2022-2023, along with a new Child and Family Benefit. The budget also includes • $638 million for seniors and housing service.
