Jury starts deliberating at Edmontohn trial for suspect in officer stabbing
EDMONTON — A jury has started deliberating in the trial for a man accused of stabbing an Edmonton police officer and striking four pedestrians with a van.
Abdulahi Hasan Sharif, who is 32, has pleaded not guilty to 11 charges, including five counts of attempted murder.
He is also charged with dangerous driving and aggravated assault against the police officer.
The Crown argued during its closing statement on Wednesday that Sharif went to extraordinary lengths to cause as much chaos and destruction as possible.
