Motz wins in Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Glen Motz is going back to Ottawa.

CHAT News is declaring the Conservative Party candidate as the winner in the Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner riding. With 208 of 216 polls reporting, Motz has received 40,061 votes, nearly 80 per cent of ballots cast.

It will be Motz’s second term as Member of Parliament. He was first elected during a 2016 by-election, where he received nearly 70 per cent of the vote.

Motz spoke with media after early results were brought in.

NDP Candidate Elizabeth Thomson is a distant second place, receiving 4,227 votes, or 8.43 per cent.

Liberal Candidate Harris Kirshenbaum is in third place with 3,125 votes, enough for 6.23 per cent of the vote.

Andrew Nelson with the People’s Party of Canada has received 1,290 votes for fourth place.

Shannon Hawthorne with the Green Party is in fifth place with 1,103 votes.

Independent candidate Dave Phillips has received 319 votes.
