EDMONTON — Alberta MLA’s gave unanimous support to an NDP motion calling on the province to reverse a decision exempting thousands of inexperienced truck and bus drivers from mandatory entry-level training.

During debate, Transportation Minister Ric McIver said families of some of the victims of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash convinced him to take a second look.

Members of the victims families were in the gallery during debate.

They also held a news conference earlier with Opposition Leader Rachel Notley, where they vowed to continue to fight for changes to Alberta’s trucking regulations.
