MEDICINE HAT, AB – Eagle Butte High School’s senior and junior girls volleyball teams will be bringing home some new hardware to school on Monday.

This after both Talons volleyball clubs captured gold medals at a pair of tournaments in southern Alberta.

The senior girls Talons won the Sunny South Tournament in dramatic fashion on Saturday, facing the Monsignor McCoy Colts in the final.

After jumping ahead with a first set victory of 25-20, the Talons dropped the second by a 21-25 count to force a deciding third set.

McCoy was on the brink of victory with a 14-4 lead, however Eagle Butte was able to complete a remarkable rally to win the third set and the Sunny South title with a 19-17 victory.

That wasn’t it for the Talons however, as the junior squad captured the Immanuel Christian Tournament championship in Lethbridge.

Eagle Butte’s juniors rolled to a straight sets victory (26-24, 25-18) defeating St. Mary’s out of Taber.

The next major tournament on the schedule for local high school volleyball teams is the ‘Crash the Cave’ tournament in Pincher Creek from October 25 to 26.
