MEDICINE HAT, AB – It was a long time coming, but the Medicine Hat College Rattlers women’s soccer team finally got back to their winning ways on Sunday.

After a scoreless draw with the Olds College Broncos on Saturday, the Rattlers upset the visiting SAIT Trojans by a 2-0 count to post their first win since September 13.

MHC picked up first half goals from co-captains Kaylei Hole and Jadyn Fode, while goalkeeper Amanda Oevering stopped all four shots she faced to earn the clean sheet.

Sunday’s victory moved the women’s Rattlers record to 3-2-3 on the season, while the ladies have only allowed one goal in their last four matches.

The Rattlers men’s soccer team was also poised for an upset against the Trojans in Sunday’s late game, however two goals in the final 20 minutes of play from Zach Michaud and Emmanuel Ngegba gave SAIT the 2-0 victory.

It’s the second straight 2-0 loss for the Rattlers men’s squad, as they fell by the same score to Olds College the day prior.

Joao Vitor Duz Batista stopped seven of the nine shots he faced on Saturday, while Marko Ilich earned the clean sheet for SAIT with three saves.

MHC’s men’s soccer team has now lost their last three games in a row, dropping back to a 3-4-1 record and sit fourth in their division with 10 points.

Two big games lie ahead for the Rattlers soccer teams next weekend which could have major playoff implications, with MHC hosting Ambrose University on Saturday before travelling to Lethbridge College on Sunday to battle the Kodiaks.
