DOHA, QATAR – Sage Watson and her Canadian teammates will be racing for a IAAF World Championships gold medal on Sunday.

Watson and Team Canada’s women’s 4×400 metre relay team posted a season’s best time of 3:25.86 in Saturday’s semi-final to finish third in their heat and secure a spot in the finals.

Anchoring her country’s final leg, the Seven Persons sprinter posted a split of 51.3 seconds to put Canada through to the finals alongside Alicia Brown, Aiyanna-Brigitte Stiverne, and Madeline Price.

This comes just one day after Watson finished in eighth place in the women’s 400 metre hurdles after setting the Canadian record of 54.32 seconds in the semi-finals earlier this week.

Watson is searching for her second international medal of the season in the 4×400 metre relay after claiming silver with Team Canada at the 2019 Pan-Am Games in Lima, Peru.

Canada will race for gold at 12:15 pm MST against the United States, Jamaica, Great Britain, Poland, Ukraine, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
