Weather prompts multiple school closures

DUNMORE, AB – Multiple schools in the Prairie Rose School Division will be closed Monday due to the winter storm that has blasted the region on Sunday.

The division posted Sunday evening that all schools, with the exception of Parkside School, I.F. Cox School, Margaret Wooding School, Beyond Walls Outreach and Prairie Mennonite School will be closed, and all buses, with the exception of buses in the Town of Redcliff and the Prairie Mennonite buses, are not running.

CAPE School, a charter school in Medicine Hat, also posted on social media it will be closed on Monday.

All schools in the the Medicine Hat Public School Division will be open Monday. The Medicine Hat Catholic School Division has not posted any updates as of 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Medicine Hat Police Service is advising drivers within Medicine Hat to avoid non-essential travel Sunday night, saying there is reduced visibility and slippery roads in the city. A notice from the police adds towing services within Medicine Hat are available, but drivers should expect delays.

Environment Canada says the snow is expected to continue Monday.
