RILEY, AB — For the first time since 2012, the men’s and women’s golf teams at the Medicine Hat College have earned their place at the CCAA National Championships.

Battling chilling temperatures and strong winds, the men captured gold at the ACAC Golf Championships with a tournament team score of +51 at Coal Creek Golf Club. It’s the first gold medal for the men’s team in college history, defeating the second-place MacEwan Griffins by 12 strokes.

The ladies continued their dynasty in the ACAC, capturing a silver medal to earn a fourth straight trip to the national championship. The team of Nicole Schultz, Ciara Bonogofski, and Sierra Zukowski edged the SAIT Trojans by two strokes to snag the second and final ticket to nationals.

Rattlers newcomer Chase Broderson was the low men’s player individually, finishing third overall at +8. Medicine Hat-product Caleb Kinch was close behind in a tie for fifth at +13.

Both teams will tee it up at the CCAA National Golf Championships at the Continental Golf Club in Sorel-Tracy in Quebec from Oct. 13-18.
