Søgaard stands strong in 2-0 victory in Swift Current

SWIFT CURRENT, SK — Mads Søgaard collected his first shutout of the season, stopping all 25 shots to lead the Medicine Hat Tigers to a 2-0 victory over the Swift Current Broncos on Friday night.

Undefeated on the road this season, the Tigers are now 2-1-0-0 on the campaign, and will look for a second straight victory over the Broncos on Saturday night at the Canalta Centre.

Tyler Preziuso scored the eventual game-winner just over two minutes into the third period, jamming a loose puck home in front of Broncos netminder Isaac Poulter. Bryan Lockner tallied his second of the campaign with just under five minutes to play on the man-advantage.

Despite taking the loss, Poulter put together an exceptional performance, stopping all 22 shots through the first two periods of play. In total, the Winnipeg, MB product made 39 saves in defeat, including a peppered 23 of 25 in the final frame.

Tigers captain James Hamblin collected two helpers in the victory, while Corson Hopwo and Jonathan Brinkman tallied one assist each.

Medicine Hat went 1/5 on the powerplay, while the Broncos were unsuccessful on two powerplay opportunities.
